Fall Cleaning
Fall cleaning is a time to prepare for winter by cleaning your home and yard. Here are some things you can do:
- Wash windows: Clean the outside of your windows to let in more sunlight and enjoy crisp views.
- Clean garden beds: Clean your garden beds to reduce weeds and disease, and minimize pests and rodents. This will also make your spring planting easier next year.
- Declutter: Use a checklist to keep track of your progress as you declutter and organize. You can bag up items to donate and drop them off at a local charity.
- Clean gutters: Clean your gutters before winter to prevent damage from snow weighing them down.
- Remove leaves: Remove leaves from your lawn.
- Trim plants: Trim your plants.
- Replenish mulch: Replenish mulch in your garden.
- Mow your lawn: Mow your lawn.
- Remove debris: Remove debris from your lawn.
- Clean mildew: Clean mildew off fences and walls.
Fall cleaning can be similar to spring cleaning, but there’s no need to do everything in one day or weekend. Your task list will depend on your household’s needs. For example, if you own your home, you might have more outdoor tasks, while renters and condo owners might have more indoor tasks.
